Mehr Figuren im Wiener Walzer

Die International DanceSport Federation (IDSF) hat beschlossen, mehr Figuren als bisher im Wiener Walzer zuzulassen. Die Erweiterung ging ab sofort für alle IDSF-Turniere in einer Testphase bis 2004.
Trainer aus dem DTV bemühen sich schon seit Jahren darum, mehr Vielfalt im Wiener Walzer durchzusetzen. Ein erster Vorstoß wurde vor wenigen Jahren vom internationalen Profi-Verband abgelehnt. Bei den Amateuren haben die Trainer nun Gehör gefunden. Die IDSF dankt in ihrer Pressemitteilung ausdrücklich "Mr. Wolfgang Opitz, Mrs. Natasa Ambroz, Mr. Oliver Wessel-Therhorn, Mr. Philip Banyer, Mr. Hans Laxholm, and Mr. Werner Führer."

Innovation in the Viennese Waltz
IDSF Recommends The Introduction Of Additional Figures In The Viennese Waltz

Realizing that it is time to update the more than a century old Viennese Waltz, the Presidium of the International DanceSport Federation, IDSF, meeting in Zurich (SUI) on January 12th & 13th, decided to recommend the introduction of additional figures in the Viennese Waltz. For more than 100 years competitors have been permitted to dance only the original figures:
Natural Turn, Reverse Turn, Fleckerl and Contra-Check.
There have been several attempts in recent years to extend the syllabus, without success.
After consulting several highly qualified Professionals technicians, the IDSF Presidium is proposing the following additional figures:

+) Spin with slight Lilt Action and Natural Pivot (not more than two consecutive bars). The Spin and Natural Pivot are danced alternating. On the forward step there is a slight Lilt Action (two steps within the bar).

+) Reverse Pivot (over one bar only). The Reverse Pivot is danced over two beats (two steps within the bar). It is most suited for a musical change before the Reverse Fleckerl.

+) Lines to change from Reverse to Natural Fleckerl (held over one or two bars):
- Contra Check
- Left Whisk

The IDSF accepts and recommends the introduction of these figures to the Viennese Waltz, with immediate effect in all IDSF Competitions for a test period of three years, ending 2004. It is most important, that these changes are be brought to the attention of the Adjudicators judging IDSF Competitions.

The Presidium is sure that this important innovation will bring a fresh, competitive aspect to the athletes and that it will be more spectacular for spectators and media.
