For the first time in their history the EuroGames were granted to an East European country. In contrast to the last GayGames 2010, which took place in Germany (Cologne), the organizers of the Budapest EuroGames have to get along without communal help. However, the Hungarian dancesport enthusiasts received valuable support from the ESSDA (European Same-Sex Dance Association), under the auspices of which this year's EuroGames were given the rank of official European Championships of Equality Dancing for the second time.

The European Championships were held in various sections, being divided into female and male couples, 18+ and 35+. In spite of the intensive promotion for the EuroGames, only approx. 150 dancers participated in the competitions. The main reason for this is the tense political situation in Hungary. Nonetheless, many DVET-couples were very successful and managed to reach a place on the podium.

The following couples are European Champions:

Petra Katja Zimmermann/Caroline Privou (Women 18+ Standard),
Kerstin Kallmann/Cornelia Wagner (Women 18+ TenDance),
Heidrun Kling/Heike Kämmerer (Women 35+ Standard),
Peter Becker/Peter Schlattmeier (Men 35+ Standard) and
Dorothea Arning/Almut Freund (Women 35+ Latin and TenDance).
