Results from Antwerp, day 1

As federal Sports Director Michael Eichert reports, many couples did not arrive at the tournament at all or arrived just a few minutes before the beginning of the competitions due to the chaotic weather conditions.

The first successful German couples were Markus Ziebegk/Jenny Müller (3.) and Alex Gerlein/Alexandra Elert (6.) in the WDSF Open Rising Star Standard tournament. Bardahan/Anastasia Bodnar celebrated a "sensational victory" at the WDSF Open Rising Star Latin tournament.

Two DTV-couples reached a place on the podium at the WDSF Senior I Standard tournament: Heinz-Josef and Aurelia Bickers won 3 dances, thus prevailing against Palat/Palatova from the Czech Republic. Bernd and Sandra Ketturkat finished third. Three more German couples reached the semi final consisting of 15 couples: Patrick and Sabrina van der Meer (8.), Oliver Wöstenfeld/Martina Bruhns (12.) and Gert Faustmann/Alexandra Kley (13./14.).

Wilfried and Annette Seidel (4.) as well as Dieter Keppeler/Manuela Schraut-Keppeler (5.) reached the final of the WDSF Senior III Standard tournament. Two more DTV-couples danced in the semi final: Jörg and Beate Monse (9.) as well as Stefan Mußmann/Dagmar Rudolph-Mußmann (11.).
